Riders in the Sky
And Gary in Houston, Texas, Aug. 20, 1998

show #3816

Houston, Texas,

It starts like this

I got off work at 3:00pm on Thursday. I drove home got some money and at 3:30pm I headed for Houston. I got to the theater at about 7:30pm and went to the ticket booth to buy a ticket. I told them as close to the front as I can get. Well, second row right in front of the stage at the right corner of the stage It was GREAT. I tried to get to go back stage to see the RITS but a couple of them were napping so they wouldn't let me. However one of the security guards took a copy of my newest poem book back to the RITS I gave each of them one and I also gave Joey one of my Never-Ending cowboy poem books. I also had the guard give the RITS a copy of the article in the paper with my and Roy Rogers on the front cover (Roy is a cardboard life size cutout I have in my Cowboy room).

The show started with and opening act I man named Don Wallser He sang some real good songs and some really funny ones to 1. The John Deere tractor song 2. The Yodel Polka 3. Cowpoke 4. A fool such as I 5. Hill Country Waltz 6. Truck Driving Man 7. Long Black Vale 8. Way Out There 9. Please Help Me I'm Falling 10. Please Help Me I'm Falling ( the Homer and Jethro version) 11. Chime Bells 12. RamŪn 13. Rolling Stone of Texas Then it was time for the RIDERS IN THE SKY concert number #3816 1. Texas Plains 2. How the Yodel was Born 3. Wahoo 4. Tumbling Tumbleweed 5. Palindrome 6. Four Footed Friends 7. A song in Spanish (didn't get the name) 8. Sioux City Sue 9. The Phantom of the Chuckwagon 10. Hoop de do 11. Be Still Little Doggies 12. Rawhide 13. Bowling Bowling Bowling 14. Cowboy Campmeeting 15. Texas Blues 16. Silver Moon Waltz 17. One more ride 18. QUESTIONS (just a note) I had by far the best question. I asked "What is the Cowboy way Briefs or Boxers" Ranger Doug came back with "Now lets keep politics out of here tonight" and Too Slim spoke up and said "Depends" I have asked the second question so they continued to have others ask questions. A lady right in front of me gave Too Slim a gift but no one got a bigger laugh then my questioned did. However Ranger Doug gave the 8track to the lady that gave Too Slim the gift and as I thought about it I came to the conclusion Ranger Doug did it the Cowboy Way because she needed that track a lot more then I did. 19. Cool Waters 20. Happy Accordion Fingers 21. Pacos Bill 22. Blue Shadows 23. Lights of Old Santa Fe 24. Don't Fence me In 25. Navajo Trail 26. Sons of the Western Soil 27. Happy Days Encore 28. Loony Tunes (then they have Don come back on stage and sing the last songs with them they were 29. Cattle Call 30. You are My Sunshine

I had gotten Ranger Doug to sign my Cowboy Hat before the Show because I had to leave right after the show because I had to be to work at 7:00am the next morning so when the show ended I took off for my car to go home and what to my surprise the battery was dead you guessed it I had left my lights on. Well, what to do that was easy I went right back to the lobby of the theater and had Too Slim, Woody and Joey sign my hat and had Ranger Doug add the number of the show. Then I went back to my car, got the jumper cables out of the trunk put one end on the battery and the other end out in the street and after about 10 minutes a man stopped and gave me a jump and I was on my way home. I got home at 3:20am got to bed by 3:30 and had to get up for work at 5:40am.And I did it was well worth it.

The End

Gary
