Riders in the Sky
Conifer at Kenlet Centennial Ampitheater, July 24, 1998

Oh, gang, it was FAN-tastic!!!!!!!!! It was like MY own personal concert (front row center). It was waaaaay too real...well, you all already know that part..

I got there about 5:30 to wait for the gate to open (an hour later)....so had about 100 other people....but most of them had brought lawn chairs and there were seats already set up for the main part of the amphitheatre. We herd the boys rehearsing and testing (check! check! check!) the sound equip. (in their shorts!) and, after wiping our brows for an hour...we all rushed in. I, free of chair baggage....managed to get the best seat in the house...and I didnt even have to run. Wow! Of course, it turned out that the chairs weren't too sturdy after all. Before everything started (we had another hour to wait) I leaned back just... a ...tiny...bit........and whooooooaa horsey! I went for a buckin' ride, I swear in slow motion, on the back 2 legs of this critter! Two men on either side of me were tryin' to hold me off the lady behind me, who's circulation was getting cut off by my chair...(what's really funny is that the MC kept asking everyone to crowd closer together to make room for more...we decided this was not for us...hahaha!) Whew! She didn't get permanently damaged. The man next to me went and borrowed two real lawn chairs and we both sat in them without fear of bein' in a plastic chair rodeo!

We had a 'yodeling contest'...I almost dared myself to go up there. Ranger Doug, Too slim and our MC officiated....of course, we have some good lady yodelers here in Utah, so Ranger Doug was quite taken aback! ha! but a couple kids tried it for fun, too!

Just as things were about to begin and the orchestra was tuning up....it started to sprinkle.....then the orchestra just up and left! Turns out they can't play their instruments in the rain....but it was barely a sprinkle, so they waited backstage. Naturally, to fill the time.......RIDERS IN THE SKY came out and entertained us (as if they're 'filler'!), including cowboy on broadway stuff....you know, Phantom of the Opera etc music with the song stylings of Sidemeat! It was a real 'gas' (they did this routine on TNN) LOL. The temperature was just right during the concert and get this folks...NO 'SQUITERS!!!! Hardly a bug in sight! (they were all listening, too).

About 30 min later they decided it twerent goin' to sprinkle no more...so everyone came back out. The orchestra was in black pants and white dinner jackets....don't ask me why. You'd think they'd let 'em wear jeans just once! Anywho, on with the wonderful show #3797....I won't go into detail, but I was mesmerized with Cherokee and Arms of My Love...and yes, JOEY WAS THERE! I forgot already what he sang, but they've been hidin' him too much! What a voice!

You've all been to concerts....Woody's rope tricks and Too Slims comments! eeck! No Beach Boys with the orchestra, though! Ah, but it was all so beauuuuutiful! They even changed shirts during intermission (no, not in public-- or they really might be public cowboys #1 if they did!), so, if my pics turn out, then they'll all be in different oufits! They all looked sooooo well!

And yes! They noticed the cyberpal paraphenalia right off! and {{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}} were passed around for all. After I got their photo autographed, I waited for most of the crowd to part and then I went up and asked the guys to pose for me together. I told 'em I wanted somethin' real cheeky...then I stopped and said they should crowd together more....maybe look like they're in love with me ( I stayed out of the pic tho).....and what did I see in my camera lens but Joey approach and give me a great big smackaroooo on the cheek!!!!!!!! Yodel-whew!! ("Let's do that again!" I exclaimed) They blew me kisses and I HOPE I got the photo. This'll be one for the cyberpals! Since my GOOD camera is too expensive to fix (it broke after the pic I took kissing Woody last year) and I used a little cheapy one. I WAS VEKLEMPT!!!!!!

What made the evening even more 'right' was the long and fabulous fireworks display! I watched the guys giving autographs while the sky was spectacled behind them! Well, I'd burst into all kinds of color, too, at a Riders concert! This had to be one of their best. Siiiiiiiigggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh,

Mooooooooooooooooooooooey!!! c)=D
