Show #3899
Well, Cyberpals...it was an surprisingly nice night for a February when I and Bobbie attended the 3,899th performance of their long and checkered career. Thanks to the miracle of e-mail, Bobbie and I were able to meet in the lobby of the Civic Center prior to the concert, go have dinner and back to the concert we went (couldn't sit together unfortunately, since I got my ticket a few months ago, but I was fortunate enough to be two rows from the front! Didn't bring my camera though...I was under the silly impression that they didn't allow cameras since the last time I saw them there (2 years ago), a lady next to me was asked to stop taking pictures, but NOT this time! I'll have to ask the people at the Civic Center about that.)
A little after 8:00 p.m., all four of America's Favorite Cowboys came on stage (Joey's dad was in the audience), and with the exception of the world's shortest 15 minute intermission (which I think lasted 5 minutes), they played until about 10:15 +/-! I took notes during the concert and here's what they played:
1. Texas Plains
2. That's How the Yodel was Born
3. Wahoo
4. Cool Water
5. Palindrome
6. Farr Away Stomp
7. Malaguena
8. Sioux City Sue
9. Andrew Lloyd Webber
10. Hoop De Doo
11. Lie Still Little Dogies
12. Rawhide
13. Cowboy Camp Meeting (Too Slim garbled his way through the first line)
14. The Arms of My Love
15. Annie Laurie
16. One More Ride
17. Back in the Saddle Again
18. 160 Acres
19. Cherokee
20. Texas Sand
21. Question Time ("What's an 8 Track? "won, but I liked the question "How do you play so fast without screwing up?")
22. Request Time
23. Don't Fence Me In
24. Chicken Reel (Varmint Dancing)
25. I Always Do
26. Ghost Riders
27. That's Amore
28. Too Jaws/Woody's Rope Tricks
29. When Payday Rolls Around
30. Happy Trails (Woody said "I was just kidding"
after asking the audience to sing along)
END OF SHOW - FIRST ENCORE
MY NOTE: The guys came out to the center of
the stage to acknowledge the
applause and a woman in the audience yelled
"We're just kidding!" to the surprise and
amusement of both the Riders and the audience!
31. Looney Tunes
32. You Are My Sunshine
33. He Walks With The Wild and the Lonely
(unplugged -- they came
to the front of the stage and sang it wonderfully...Bobbie said she
could hear them up in the balcony!)
END OF FIRST ENCORE - SECOND ENCORE (Yes, that's
right - Two encores!)
MY NOTE: Ranger Doug
came out and said: "That's OK, we don't need to
be in Des Moines until tomorrow anyway."
34. Tumblin' Tumbleweeds
35. There's A Blue Sky Way Out Yonder
CONCERT IS FINALLY OVER :-(
I shuffled my way out to the lobby, which is a little tough since it's kind of a small lobby, lots of people were at the concert and a lot of folks wanted to stay and
talk to the guys (since many of them are from this part of the country, they get a lot of friends and relatives who come and see the concert). I finally found Bobbie and we stayed and talked for awhile, but I was very tired so I had to get going home. Otherwise, as usual, it was a wonderful concert which was definitely worth the wait.
