Show #3822
OHHHHHHHH! What a concert!!!! It was so much fun!!! Riders for over two
hours today - and to meet 2 cyberpals and some of their familes - it was
WONDERFUL!!!!
My husband and I arrived at Pittsburg Memorial Auditorium about 1:00 for
the 2:30 show. We wandered around for a few minutes, but I was too
excited to meet Nancy and Jeff, so I went back to the main door. Just
outside the main door, I happened to see two people, and took a chance
that it was Nancy and Jeff, so as I started out the door to greet them,
who has Nancy just opened the door for - none other than our Slim, with
his shorts on and ball cap. As he comes up the stairs to where the Merc
is sat up, I'm deciding if it really is Nancy and Jeff, Slim looks my
way and says "The Joey Fan Club!!!" I answer yes.
Jeff is going to the car to retrieve Nancy's cyberpal shirt, when I
open the outside door, and ask "Nancy???" she turns and says "Linda". It
is truly wonderful to meet others who love the Riders.
We begin visiting, and waiting. Nancy asks if I know what Steve looks
like, and I told her no. But I'm standing there, and happen to notice
two men and two teenagers come in and go to the Merc table. I decide
this must be them, because Steve had told me he was bringing his friend,
Dr. Dan, and his 13 year old daughter. Well, as I walk up to the Merc
table, Sarah turns and looks my way, and I ask her if her name is Sarah.
She is totally surprised and said it was, and I ask her is that was
Steve in front of her. I can't believe I picked them out without any
knowledge of what they looked like.
All the guys were great! They all look trim and
fit. Joey loved the Joey shirt, and they are all so nice. Slim and
Roberta are expecting December 28th, and from all indications he said,
it is a boy!! He acted excited about it!!!
They sang: Texas Plains, How the Yodel was Born, Wahoo, Tumbling
Tumbleweeds, Palindrome (added a new one - star comedy by Democrats)
Farr Away Stomp, La Malaguena, Sioux City Sue, Phantom of the Chuch
Wagon, Hoop de doo, Night Riding Song, Rawhide, Bowling, Bowling,
Bowling, Cowboy Camp Meeting, Medley of Annie Laurie, Arms of My Love
(sigh), Trail Tip Song, One More Ride and broke for intermission. There
was a little girl about 6 years old, sitting a few chairs across from
us, and my husband heard her say, - I hope it isn't over. He got a big
kick out of watching her.
Following Intermission, the came back with Back in the Saddle Again,
Jingle, Jangle, Jingle, Cherokee (sigh), Texas Sand (with Joey), the
questions, Slim said that CBC stands for Canadian Broadcast Network, not
Chronic Brain Cramps, but the little girl won the tape. She said "Are
you guys real?" Ranger nearly died - he doubled up and could hardly stop
laughing, she said are you really "Riders in the Sky" and not somebody
else? everyone laughed. They continued with requests which led into a
rousing rendition of Surfing USA, Cool Water, Salting of the Slug, My
Oklahoma, Turkey in the Straw with the Varmit Dance, Roy Rogers medley,
which consisted of: Pecos Bill, Blue Shadows, Ole Sante Fe, Don't Fence
Me In, Along Navahoe Trail, Skyball Paint, and Happy Trails. The encore
consisted of Joey playing the "Chicken Dance (at least that's what I've
heard it called), then You Are My Sunshine, and He Walks with the Wild
and Lonely. It was fantastic!!!
I got autographs, we gave Woody his gift, and stayed around for some
picture taking - but I had to leave. We had church at 6:00, and I
stayed as long as I could before we had to leave. It was so much fun.
I told the guys I would see them in Indiana, and Joey was amazed that so
many are planning on being there. I told him it looked like we were
talking about a 3 nighter! He was excited about it!!! Nancy and Steve
were still there when my husband and I left.
Wow, what a great time!!!
